Bandung, September 4, 2025 – The Faculty of Mathematics and Science Education (FPMIPA), Universitas Pendidikan Indonesia (UPI) has formalized a partnership with the Faculty of Teacher Training and Education (FKIP) at Universitas Sultan Ageng Tirtayasa (UNTIRTA) during a Guest Lecture and signing ceremony at UNTIRTA. The collaboration also involves the Education, Youth, and Sports Office (DISDIKPORA) of Pandeglang, which provides training for science and mathematics teachers.

This partnership supports the objectives of Sustainable Development Goal number four (SDG 4) to ensure inclusive, equitable, and quality education, as well as lifelong learning opportunities for all. It also aims to strengthen global partnerships for sustainable development (SDG 17), thereby accelerating progress toward quality education.

The collaboration focuses on enhancing the skills of current and future educators by implementing innovative learning approaches, specifically Joyful Learning and Deep Learning. These methods are designed to create engaging, meaningful, and challenging educational experiences that improve learning outcomes.

Leaders from both faculties and representatives from DISDIKPORA Pandeglang attended the event, which included a ceremonial exchange of mementos symbolizing academic friendship and shared commitment to educational advancement.

The Dean of FPMIPA UPI highlighted that this partnership extends beyond formal programs to serve as a platform for sharing best practices in education. “Through this synergy, we aim to better prepare teachers to meet 21st Century challenges by fostering creativity, critical thinking, and joy in learning, aligned with SDG 4’s goal of quality education for all,” he said.

The partnership includes expert lectures, teacher training, joint research, and academic publications. Soon, a joint team from UPI and UNTIRTA will support teachers under DISDIKPORA Pandeglang in applying Joyful Learning and Deep Learning approaches in their classrooms.

Through this collaboration, FPMIPA UPI reaffirms its leadership in science and mathematics education innovation in Indonesia and expands its strategic network with higher education institutions and government agencies to support SDG 4.
