Department of Mathematics Education

The Department of Mathematics Education was first formed in 1963 under the name of the Department of Exact Science, which is under the Teacher Training Faculty of Exact Sciences (FKIE). In 1972 the Department of Certain Sciences was changed to the Department of Mathematics Education. Along with the winder mandate carried out by UPI, in 1998 the Department of Mathematics Education opened a new study program, namely the Mathematics Study Program, so that until now the Mathematics Education Department has overseen two Study Programs, namely the Mathematics Education Study Program with a graduate with a Bachelor of Education (S.Pd) .), and the Mathematics Study Program with a Bachelor of Science (S.Si.) degree graduate.

Department of Physics Education

With the historical background of the nation's growth, which realized that efforts to educate and educate the nation were an important part of fulfilling independence, on Wednesday, October 20, 1954, PTPG was founded. This is a realization of the Decree of the Minister of Education, Teaching and Culture of the Republic of Indonesia No. 357 dated 2 September 1954 concerning the establishment of a Teacher Education College. At first, PTPG was led by a Dean, who oversees several Departments, one of which is the Department of Definite Nature. In 1958 PTPG was integrated into a faculty of Padjadjaran University, under the name of the Teacher Training and Education Faculty (FKIP). In 1963 FKIP became IKIP Bandung as the only university level teacher education institution. At that time, our Department was one of the Departments in the Teaching Faculty of exact sciences, with the name of the Department of Natural Sciences. And in 1972 the name changed to the Department of Physics Education. In line with government policies in the field of higher education which provided an extension of the mandate for LPTKs, October 1998 IKIP Bandung changed its name to the Indonesian Education University. And from then on, the Department of Physics Education oversees two study programs, the Physics Education Study Program with a Bachelor of Education (S.Pd.) degree, and the Physics Study Program with a Bachelor of Science (S.Si.) degree graduate.

Department of Biology Education

The history of the establishment of the Department of Biology Education is inseparable from the history of the development of the Indonesian Education University which began in the era of the Teacher Education College (PTPG) which was officially established on October 20, 1954 based on the Decree of the Minister of Education, Teaching and Culture dated September 1, 1954 No. 38742 / Kab. Since 1958 based on the Decree of the Minister of Education, Teaching and Culture on November 25, 1958, PTPG changed its status to the Faculty of Teacher Training and Education and joined UNPAD. This change is due to the increasing activity in academic, personnel, and physical materials. The Department of Biology Education has two Study Programs, namely the Biology and Biology Education Study Program. The Biology Education study program is responsible for producing graduates who have the ability as Biology teachers (S.Pd.), while the Biology Study Program is responsible for producing graduates who have the ability as Biology researchers (S.Si.).

Department of Chemical Education

The forerunner of the Department of Chemical Education FPMIPA IKIP Bandung is the Department of Natural Sciences of the Teacher Education College (PTPG) which was born in 1954. In connection with the change of PTPG status to the Faculty of Teacher Training and Education (FKIP) Universitas Padjadjaran (UNPAD), for six years since in 1957, this department became part of UNPAD. In 1963 FKIP UNPAD changed its status to IKIP Bandung in accordance with Presidential Decree No. 1 of 1963. Since then the Department of Chemistry Education has become one of the Departments within the Teaching and Exact Science Faculty (FKIE), IKIP Bandung, at that time it was named the Department of Chemistry. In line with government policies in the field of higher education which provided an extension of the mandate for LPTKs, October 1998 IKIP Bandung changed its name to the Indonesian Education University. And from then on, the Department of Chemistry was in charge of two study programs, the Chemical Education Study Program with a Bachelor of Education (S.Pd.) degree, and the Chemistry Study Program with a Bachelor of Science (S.Si.) degree graduate.

Department of Computer Science Education

The Department of Computer Science Education at the Indonesian Education University was founded in 2005 and consists of two study programs (prodi): Computer Science Study Program and Computer Science Education Study Program. The Computer Science Study Program produces a Bachelor of Computer Science (S.Kom). Meanwhile, the Computer Science Education Study Program produces a Bachelor of Education (S.Pd) with deed IV Computer Science Education to teach ICT subjects in SMP, SMA and SMK. Graduates of the Computer Science Study Program are expected to become computer graduates who have strong abilities in innovation, analysis, design and implementation of IT systems. Meanwhile, graduates of Computer Science Education are expected to become competent ICT (Information and Communication Technology) teachers who have capabilities in the fields of technology and computer science as well as master pedagogy and teaching techniques. This is in line with the main vision of the UPI academic unit, which is to be able to produce graduates who are superior, competitive and able to develop in a sustainable manner.

Science Education / PSE

In 2007/2008, 200 SMA, 200 SMP, 112 SMK, and 38 SD have received the RSBI block grant program from DEPDIKNAS. A similar program is also carried out for schools (madrasah) under the Ministry of Religion. In addition, around 50 international schools have been established and developed in West Java. These international schools are generally affiliated with either international institutions such as Cambridge or the Global Assessment Certificate. If the mandate of the law regarding the need for international standard schools in Indonesia is actually implemented by calculating the number of districts / cities currently 440 (Ministry of Home Affairs, 2008) and each city / district has 2 international standard SMP and each SMP requires 2 science teachers then it is necessary at least 1760 science teachers with abilities of international standard. This number does not take into account schools within the Ministry of Religion, private schools and elementary schools. With this illustration it is clear that the need for international quality science teachers is very great. Unlike the usual science teacher preparation that can be done by existing LPTKs, the preparation of science teachers for SBI requires higher quality in terms of lecturers, facilities and infrastructure, and programs. With a standard like this, not many LPTKs are able to implement it. Therefore this new program must be prepared to meet the needs of SBI teachers throughout Indonesia, and not only in West Java. Therefore, the opening of an international program for science teachers by FPMIPA UPI is a step in the success of the mandate of the law. IPSE was developed based on the need for resources with superior competencies. This need will continue with the times. This situation will ensure the usability of graduates, the sustainability of the program, and the availability of prospective students. Sources of funds that will be used for this program are student funds such as SPP, DPL, and practicum. In addition, this program will seek to utilize grant funding sources, both national and international.
