Get to Know Prof. Dr. Tatang Herman, M.Ed

Bandung: The academic community of the Faculty of Mathematics and Natural Sciences Education (FPMIPA) of Universitas Pendidikan Indonesia (UPI) has given confidence in leading FPMIPA UPI. The figure is Prof. Dr. Tatang Herman, M.Ed.

In his educational history, he revealed that he had taken a Bachelor of Mathematics Education at IKIP Bandung in 1989. After completing his education, he made a decision to become an entrepreneur. After running his business, he again decided to switch professions which wanted to continue his educational domain by becoming a lecturer. In 1990, he was accepted as a lecturer as a civil servant lecturer.

In 1995 he continued his education, namely S2, after getting the opportunity to study in Australia and studying for 1.5 years. Returning to the country of birth, he returned to teaching, then became a department secretary in 2000-2002.

In 2003, he continued his doctoral education at the University of Education Indonesia by taking a linear major, namely Mathematics Education. After completing all levels of education, she returned to teaching. Until in 2009 he received the title of professor in the field of Mathematics Learning and Learning, after publishing several articles through several research studies. Then in 2011-2015, he served as director at UPI Cibiru Campus. Then in 2021, he was officially appointed as the Dean of FPMIPA UPI for the 2021-2025 period.

He was inspired by the Japanese principle of “Ganbatte” which means doing your best. In Islam, this principle is related to the hadith which states: “Verily, Allah loves someone who, when working, does it professionally”. (HR. Thabrani).
