On Monday, August 26, 2024, the Universitas Pendidikan Indonesia (UPI) held the Inauguration Ceremony for New Students and the Opening of the Campus Orientation and General Lecture (MOKA-KU) for the 2024/2025 Academic Year at the Gymnasium grounds of UPI Bumi Siliwangi Campus. A total of 11,282 new students from various study programs, including 39 international students, were officially welcomed by UPI Rector, Prof. Solehuddin. From the Faculty of Mathematics and Sciences Education (FPMIPA), 942 students participated in the event.
In his speech, Prof. Solehuddin highlighted the challenges and opportunities that new students will face, emphasizing the importance of adaptation and adjustment in an increasingly complex and competitive world. He expressed hope that through education at UPI, students would develop their best potential for personal and societal benefit. The reading of the New Student Oath marked an important moment in starting their academic journey at UPI.
This year’s MOKA-KU theme is “Modernization of Education and Enculturation as a National Development Strategy in Enhancing National Quality.” Prof. Solehuddin emphasized that educational modernization must be balanced with enculturation, which involves instilling noble values and national identity. Modernization encompasses not only technological integration but also adaptive changes in mindset and methods. Education must strengthen national identity and character, supported by active collaboration among students, faculty, and all campus elements to achieve shared goals.
