STUDENT FROM THE COMPUTER SCIENCE DEPARTMENT AT UPI SUCCEEDS IN NATIONAL E-SPORTS COMPETITION

In the current era of Industry 4.0, gaming is no longer just a casual pastime but has evolved into a competitive sport known as e-sports. E-sports competitions are not limited to individual or regional levels; they have expanded to national and even international levels. This type of competition is open to participants of all backgrounds and skill levels, as it involves strategic gameplay.

At UPI, gaming enthusiasts are provided with a platform through the student activity unit known as “e-sportupi.” Among the many players, there is one student from the Faculty of Mathematics and Natural Sciences (FPMIPA) at UPI who successfully qualified for a national-level e-sports competition. This achievement is a source of pride, as it showcases how a hobby can lead to great accomplishments and challenges stereotypes associated with gaming. The student is Muhammad Fadeellah Rizki, a 2019 Computer Science student, who previously served as the chairman of the UPI E-Sport student activity unit in 2022, gaining valuable experience in competitive gaming.

The MDL (Mobile Legends Development League) is an official national-level tournament that attracted 17 teams in 2023. Among them, only 4 teams qualified for this season, and Fadeellah participated in the event with a team consisting of 7 players, 1 manager, and 1 coach. The offline tournament took place at the Perbanas Institute campus and lasted for three months.

Fadeellah expressed his joy, stating, “I’m really happy because for a team like ours, making it to MDL is a goal that every community team desires. My message to all students with the same aspirations as mine is to ‘Stay focused.’ Focus on what you want to achieve, build as many connections as you can, and learn the system. Not just in e-sports but in every field. If you stay focused on your goals, I believe you can achieve whatever you want.”

This achievement serves as motivation for all of us to continue striving and excelling in our respective endeavors.
