LAB SAFETY AND STANDARD OPERATING PROCEDURES (SOP)
Laboratory Profile
The laboratories of the Biology Education Study Program at UPI serve as essential facilities to support teaching, research, and community service. They are equipped to facilitate various biology-related activities, including practical classes and research in Microbiology, Zoology, Botany, Anatomy, Animal and Plant Physiology, and Biotechnology.
Managed by qualified laboratory staff and supervising lecturers, these laboratories apply strict safety standards and operational procedures to ensure a safe and efficient working environment for all users.
Laboratory Safety Guidelines
We are committed to maintaining a safe, healthy, and orderly laboratory environment. All users are required to comply with the following safety regulations:
General Safety Rules:

Attend a mandatory safety briefing before beginning any lab activity.

Always wear Personal Protective Equipment (PPE), including lab coats, masks, and gloves.

Keep the work area clean and organized.
-
Eating, drinking, or using personal electronic devices inside the lab is strictly prohibited.

Report any accidents or incidents immediately to the lab assistant or supervising lecturer.

Be familiar with the location of emergency equipment such as fire extinguishers, first aid kits, and evacuation routes.

Do not remove chemicals or biological specimens from the laboratory without proper authorization.
STANDARD OPERATING PROCEDURES (SOP)
All laboratory activities must follow established SOPs to ensure safety, accuracy, and reliability in practical work and data collection.
